8 Pro Tips To Keep Your Crypto Wallet Safe and Secured

  • Securing your wallet is not an easy thing to do.
  • There are a lot of hackers in the crypto world.
  • Aladdin Pro is a secure crypto wallet with many distinct features.

Crypto is creating a new path into the future of finance, yet it still has some risks that have been hunting this industry since it started. Hacking is one of the most known ghosts that is still hovering around in every financial market, and the crypto space is not exempt from its haunting.

A lot of crypto wallets get hacked, making people lose millions of dollars and a lot of assets. And while this might be unstoppable for now, it still can be managed.

How does the crypto wallet hack work?

There are many ways for crypto wallets to get hacked, which is one of the main reasons why people hesitate when considering crypto as an investment.

Some of the most known ways to hack a crypto wallet are:

  • Phishing: It is the easiest and most famous way to hack a crypto wallet, it depends on making the user hand the hacker their access to the wallet. This method usually uses fake websites that require users to enter their information to become available for hackers to steal them.
  • Compromising SMS verifications: This method uses SMS verifications that are usually a part of the 2FA verification. There are many ways to do this method such as wiretapping, cloning the SIM Card, or vhishing (also known as voice phishing).
  • Malware: This is an old method that is still effective in stealing crypto assets. It works by infecting the device with keyloggers to steal passwords and PINs while you enter them.
  • Mobile applications: Not all mobile applications are secure due to the poor architecture and security backdoors.

There are many other ways for hackers to get access to the users’ crypto wallets, yet users can do many things to protect themselves and their wallets from getting hacked.

8 pro tips to protect your crypto wallet

Although anyone is a potential victim of hackers, there are some things that users can do to make their crypto wallet safer and more secure. These steps might look simple and inconsequential, but they are very beneficial and they could protect the user from major fraud.

Cold wallet, Hot wallet

When it comes to protecting your crypto assets, a cold wallet may be a better choice. Since a cold wallet does not connect to the internet, it is safer than a hot wallet against cyberattacks.

One example of this is when the Japanese exchange BITpoint discovered a $32 million unauthorized withdrawal from its hot wallet in different cryptocurrencies targeting more than 50,000 users’ accounts.

The exchange held 5 cryptocurrencies in this hot wallet, which are Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Ripple. Yet, they clarified that their cold wallet was not affected by the attack.

Secure your internet

When making crypto transactions and trades, a secure internet should be always in mind. It is better to avoid using public Wi-Fi networks and use a VPN for additional security even if you are using your home network.

A VPN is meant to change your IP address and location, which keeps your browsing activity safe and private from threat actors.

Maintain multiple wallets

There is no limitation for wallet creation, and splitting your crypto assets between multiple wallets can help you protect your assets more efficiently. You can use one wallet for daily use and keep the other assets that you don’t trade or send and buy daily in other wallets.

Secure your device

Make sure that your device is secure against any attack using the latest updates of virus definition and use a strong antivirus and firewall for better protection. This will help you avoid hackers from taking advantage of the weakness by writing code to target the vulnerability.

Keep your recovery phrase and private key a secret

It is really important to keep your recovery phrase and private key secret. The recovery phrase is a unique phrase that helps you open your crypto wallet, same for the private key. So it is better to keep them to yourself.

Keep an offline copy of your recovery phrase

It is always better to keep an offline version of your recovery phrase. You can write it down and keep it safe or you can store it on a USB drive or as an encrypted text. You can also keep an online version of it but that might not be the best solution since it could be stolen in a much easier way.

Different recovery phrases for more security

One of the common mistakes that people make regularly is using the same password to multiple accounts. This makes it much easier to steal or hack any account of yours once they got into one of them already.

It is much better to choose a different recovery phrase for each wallet. This will make it harder for hackers to get access to your assets.

Layer up for more protection

It is much better to use many layers of security to protect your digital assets. You can try face recognition, fingerprint, passcodes, or voice recognition. The more layers you have, the easier it is to protect your wallet.

There are many things to be done for protecting your crypto wallet, but on the Aladdin Pro Wallet app, security is one of the most important features. This wallet makes it much easier to keep an eye on your wallet with its layers of protection, innovative features, and its easy-to-use layout.

Also, more countries are now regulating and embracing cryptocurrencies, which will naturally push the crypto sphere to become safer for investors. The UAE is one example, as it announced its plans to make Dubai the next crypto hub. France has also embraced crypto lately as it started with the Paris Blockchain Week Summit.

How to Change Your Email One Time Passcode and 2FA on Aladdin Pro Wallet

  • Aladdin Pro is a secure and easy-to-use wallet.
  • This wallet allows you to control your digital assets.
  • The Aladdin Pro wallet allows you to have extra security features such as OTP and 2FA.

As cryptocurrencies are making the future of finance, cyber crimes are spreading all over the web3 sphere. There are a lot of ways for cybercriminals to hack and steal cryptocurrencies from various wallets.

Aladdin Pro Wallet is designed to assure that its users never become a victim of any kind of cybercrime. This wallet was prepared to have many layers of security features. The wallet also offers many great features that will help users manage their wallets in an easy way.

Two of our most important security features are the Email One-Time Passcode (OTP) and Google Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). These two features are both separate but serve the exact same purpose.

This will be explained as we talk about the features, their benefits, their importance, and more.

Email One-Time Passcode (OTP)

The Email One-Time Passcode (OTP) feature is designed to help users protect their accounts by allowing a one-time entrance. This way they will guarantee that this is the only time they logged into their account. In other words, no one can use the code after it’s been used the first time.

The Email One-Time Passcode (OTP), also known as a one-time PIN, one-time authorization code (OTAC), or dynamic password, is a unique, machine-generated password that only works for one time.

The feature is designed to prevent identity theft cases by making sure that the user name and password can’t be exploited. OTP is usually used in eBanking, corporate networks, and other systems containing sensitive data.

The OTP usually consists of an alphanumeric code, and it is a part of the two-factor authentication. There are two different methods for OTP to work, the first is an already-made list of passwords that are known to both the user and the system. If one of these one-time passwords is used, the user simply deletes it from the list.

The disadvantage of this method is that if the user loses the list, an unauthorized user can get access to these words.

The second method is dynamic one-time passwords which are the most commonly used method. Hardware tokens are widely used for generating passwords on the fly. These small devices come in different forms such as key fobs or keypad devices.

These dynamic one-time passcodes usually have a display and generate one-time passwords for a login session at the push of a button. Passwords generated by these devices are often entered together with other authentication factors such as PINs or user IDs.

OTP with Aladdin Pro Wallet

On the Aladdin Pro Wallet app, you can find the Email One-time Passcode (OTP) as an option in the settings.

For this option go to the security settings and select the “Email OTP” option. After you select the option, your screen will shift to a number plate with space above for your current passcode.

Once you enter the passcode, your screen will shift to a similar page where you are expected to write your Email verification code. Meanwhile,  a new code will be sent to your registered email address. Enter the new email Address code, and it will automatically be saved.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security process that allows users to provide two authentication factors to verify their identity. 2FA is implemented to better protect both a user’s credentials and the resources the user can access. Two-factor authentication provides a higher level of security than authentication methods that depend on single-factor authentication.

Two-factor authentication methods rely mostly on a user providing a password as the first factor in addition to a different factor which is usually either a security token or a biometric print, such as a fingerprint or facial scan.

In other words, the two-factor authentication works to add a second layer of security to the authentication process by making it harder for attackers to gain access to a person’s devices or online accounts because, even if the victim’s password is hacked, a password alone is not enough to pass the authentication check.

Authentication factors, listed in approximate order of adoption for computing, usually include

  • A knowledge factor: something the user knows, such as a password, a personal identification number (PIN), or some sort of a shared secret.
  • A possession factor: something the user has, such as an ID card, a cell phone, a security token, a mobile device, or a smartphone app, to approve authentication requests.
  • A biometric factor: something inherent in the user’s physical self. These may be personal attributes mapped from physical characteristics, such as fingerprints authenticated through a fingerprint reader.
  • A location factor: which means a factor denoted by the location from which an authentication attempt is being made.
  • A time factor: which restricts the user’s authentication to a specific time window, in which the user can log in.

2FA with Aladdin Pro Wallet

Setting up Google Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is the third option on the security settings list.

For this, you should go to “Security Settings” and choose the “Google Authenticator PIN” option. After that, your screen will shift to a number plate with space above your current passcode.

When you enter your current passcode, your screen will shift to a QR code with a security code down below.

Under the security QR-code, you can see two buttons, the “add to Google authenticator” Button and the “Next” button, press the “add to Google authenticator” Button. After that, your screen will shift to the Google Authenticator app installed on your mobile phone.

After that, Copy your google OTP code and go back to the Aladdin Pro app and click on the “next” button. Your screen will shift to a number plate with a space above for your verification code. Enter your Google OTP code and you are good to go.

Now that you have the knowledge you need on both OTP and 2FA, you are all set. Yet, we advise you to use these two features for more protection layers.

Security With Aladdin Pro – All You Need to Know

  • Aladdin Pro is a multi-cryptocurrency wallet.
  • This wallet offers many outstanding security methods.
  • Cybersecurity is becoming one of the major issues.

While web3 is conquering the world, cryptocurrencies are making the future of finance. Yet, while we are witnessing the birth of a new era, cyber felonies also exist to remind us of the dark side of this revolution.

cybersecurity is one of the world’s most pressuring matters in this current age. This started ever since the internet was available for people to use, yet back then it was much more simple. As we got to web3, cyber crimes have reached the point where companies and businesses are losing up to millions of their crypto funds to hackers and cybercriminals.

One popular example of that is the Ronin Bridge incident when cybercriminals stole around $650 Million from Axie Infinity’s Ethereum-based side chain, known as Ronin wallet. The hackers manipulated the platform and gained access to withdraw the funds and move them later to another wallet.

These incidents pushed the Aladdin Pro tech team to develop a higher level of security, which makes the Aladdin Pro Wallet app not only easy to use but also highly secured and protected. There are many ways to verify the user’s identity.

Email verification

Email verification is the first step into the Aladdin Pro Wallet app. After you hit the register button for the first time, you shift immediately to a screen where you enter your email address. You’ll receive an email at the address you entered, this email contains a verification code.

After you enter your email address, you’ll shift to the verification page, where you can enter the verification code. After the code is approved, you’ll be done with this stage.

Phone number verification

Phone number verification is another way to keep your wallet safe. Phone number verification is the second stage after email verification, you will have to enter your phone number and hit the “verify” button. This will allow us to send a verification code to your phone number. After that, you’ll shift to a verification page, where you should enter your verification code. After the code is approved, you’ll be good to go.

Voice verification

Voice verification is the third stage, where it was added as a unique feature just like facial recognition.

To start recording, press the “tap to record” button, and record your voice while saying the sentence written in yellow above. After that listen to the recording, if not clear, click the “re-record” button; if clear click the “done” button to move to the next step.

Mnemonic phrase

The mnemonic phrase is a unique sentence used to log into your Aladdin Pro wallet. Below the phrase, you will see a “copy to clipboard” button, and lower on the screen you can see a “continue” button. Either click on the “copy to clipboard” button to save it to your mobile device, or write it down.

Application passcode

To set your application’s passcode, press the “got it” button. Your screen will move to a number plate with a space for a 6-digit number. Enter a number of your choice.

This passcode is used to confirm transactions.

Changing passcode

After setting your account, You can change your Aladdin Pro security settings whenever you want.

To change the passcode, choose ‘passcode’ from the security settings, after that the screen will shift to a number plate with a space above it. Enter your old passcode to verify it is you using the app, after that your screen will shift to a similar format, where you can enter the new passcode.

After that, you will be asked to retype the new passcode for verification, once you type it for the second time the app will automatically save it.

Biometric verification

Biometric verification is another feature added to guarantee you a higher level of security.

Choose one biometric feature that is available on your device. Now, every time you need to use the app, the biometric print will be needed for verification.

To disable this feature, all you need to do is go to settings and select “biometric verification”, after you do that, your screen will shift to biometric verification. This will confirm your identity to disable the feature.
